NEED

With nouns:
I need a computer to send an email.
verbs
I need to send an email.

Two negatives:
I don't need a map. I have a GPS.

(noun & verb)

ONLY possible with a verb.

HAVE TO & MUST
Similar in the affirmative:
I really must go.It's getting late.
I really have to go.It's getting late.

Different in negative:
I don't have to work on Saturday. (but the boss won't stop me if I want to!)
You don't have to have a passport for Spain. (But you can take one if you like.)
John! You mustn't play with matches! (It is forbidden)
Muslim children must not wear chador in French schools. (It's against the rules)

Must is used as a rhetorical question to express annoyance with someone (emphasise the word "must"):
Must you play the violin when I'm reading?
Must you always interrupt me when I'm telling a joke?
