Level 2 Unit 6-
Much, Many, Little, Few

Select the correct answer from the choices given.

Can you count it?

MUCH & LITTLE - Use for things you can't count.
Much whisky, water, traffic etc.
Little sugar, salt, interest, etc.

MANY & FEW - Use for things we can count.
Many cups, questions, cars, etc.
Few chairs, tables, pencils, etc

Exceptions:
Money. We say "I don't have MUCH money." and "I have little money.
(though we count the dollars and cents)
Time. We say "I don't have MUCH time." and "I have little time."
(though we count the minutes and hours)

NB
With little and few we sometimes use "a"

With "a" there is a positive notion:
I have A FEW cigarettes so I CAN give you one.
Mary ENJOYED the match:she is developing A LITTLE interest in football.
without "a" there is a negative notion:
I have FEW cigarettes so I CAN'T give you one.
Mary DIDN'T ENJOY the match: she has LITTLE interest in football.
