Level 5 Chapter 3 - Adjective order.

Adjectives come in two kinds:

Opinion: nice, boring, fascinating, handsome

Factual: long, big, colourful, cold,

Usually, Opinion comes before fact:

A pretty little dog.

A wonderful long holiday.

A delicious sweet drink.

There can be two (or more) fact adjectives. In that case the commonost order (not always respected) is:

1 - Size 2 - Shape 3 - Age 4 - Colour, 5 - Origin 6 - Material

A big round table. 1+2

An old wooden statue. 3+6

An old blue English postage-stamp. 3+4+5

A little old porcelain doll. 1+3+6

Any numerals precede other adjectives:

The first spring flower.
