Level 5 ch3 - Adjectives ending in "ed" and
"ing" - which to use.
Fill in all the gaps with the right word from the list at the bottom of the left hand column. Press "Check" to check your answers. Hint will give you a free letter but it will cost you points.
amazed amazing - amused amusing - confused confusing - terrified terrifying - embarrassed embarrassing - interested interesting - disgusted, disgusting - excited exciting
This may seem a detail at first but it can be important to use these adjectives with the correct ending.
If you don't, sometimes it is just a mistake:
If you say "The book was bored." instead of "The book was boring." it is a mistake, probably without consequence.
Sometimes , however, there can be a dangerous ambiguity:
The horse was frightened. (maybe because it heard a loud noise.)
The horse was terrifying. (it rolled its eyes and tried to kick me.)
and of course:
If, for example, you say "I am boring." instead of "I am bored." it will give a very strange impression: Either people will laugh, or worse, they might think "That's true!!"
The words used in the text are at the top and the bottom of this column. Choose the correct one.
You can type the word or you can highlight it and then drag and drop it into the appropriate box.
